Return to Rick's Main Site

I received several emails during this trip asking questions about how something was done and what equipment I was using. So, for the benefit of anyone interested here are some details:

Camera:  Canon Digital Rebel (the older 6 Megapixel model)

Lenses: Canon EF-S 18-55mm zoom lens, Canon EF 28-135mm image stabilized zoom lens and Canon EF 70-300mm image stabilized zoom lens. They are all the less expensive amateur grade lenses, not the expensive professional versions.

Internet Site: I use space from Web.com and use the included Site Builder software to create the web pages. To resize photos from the original size (1-2 MB) to a more manageable upload size (50-150 KB) I used “Visualizer Photo Resize”, a freeware program. See http://www.freeimagebrowser.com/resize/ for more information.

Image Editing Software: Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0

Computer: Dell laptop for storing digital photos and composing emails off-line…..the cost of an on-line connection on the ship is too high, and my thought processes and typing ability are too slow to do this stuff while on-line. tSoftware: Adobe Phto

Methodology: The site consists of text of emails I send while traveling to some of my friends, supplemented with some photos when available. I do not try to include any elaborate programming or widgets. My goal is to share a few of my ‘travel moments’ with friends and others with similar interests, not dazzle you with my technical expertise…..which is good because I have no technical expertise when it comes to website creation.
